Oncology North Coast is now celebrating its 10th year of servicing the far north coast of New South Wales. This practice supports Medical Oncologists Dr Adam Boyce, Dr James Bull, Dr Amy Scott, and Dr Joe Gormally and helps them provide patient-focused cancer services to their patients and families. The practice is defined by values of compassion, integrity, teamwork and innovation.
Oncology North Coast will be the leading rural organisation representing the practice of Medical Oncology in northern New South Wales. It will be distinguished by an extraordinary standard of patient care and professional practice.
Oncology North Coast is dedictated to applying and transmitting new knowledge in cancer treatments to the benefit of people with cancer and the community of cancer carers. This practice aims to care for you thoroughly.
Our service commitment is to offer first consultations within a 1 to 2 week timeframe, commencement of treatment within 5 working days and offer urgent consultations on the same day if necessary.
As the sole cancer treatment providers in our area we have played an instrumental role in advocating for improved access to cancer services. Our contributions to gaining better access to cancer services for our patients include:
- Extensive lobbying for federal funding to enhance cancer services in the northern rivers. The region was successful in obtaining almost 30 million dollars of federal funding for new radiotherapy services, diagnostic services (PET scanner), and accommodation facilities for patients and their families.
- Dr Boyce is an executive of the rural and regional group of COSA and current rural and regional representative on the PCPA Board. These groups have been instrumental in improving access to services and new treatments for our patients on the far north coast of NSW.
- Acquiring a Cancer Council Information centre in St Vincent's Hospital. Oncology North Coast has developed partnerships with the Cancer Council NSW to support informational, psychological, emotional and socioeconomic needs of our patients
The oncologists at Oncology North Coast are actively recruiting patients into clinical trials which offer cost free new evidence-based treatments. ONC works collaboratively with the North Coast Cancer Institute Clinical Trials Unit and the Northern Rivers University Department of Rural Health.
Oncology North Coast has a strong track record in providing cancer education and learning for our on-site Adavanced Trainee in Medical Oncology and regular Medical Students. Oncologoly North Coast, together with Lismore Base Hospital are accredited by the Royal Australian College of Physicians for registrars undertaking Advanced Training in Medical Oncology.
